12th June 2010 Hook Golf Club - We had a great reception at the club, watched England draw with USA first! Everyone soon cheered up as was dancing, they laid on a lovely barbecue and we all had a great time, even sang 3 lions to try to get something out of the football!! 10th July 2010 Westcliff Hard Court Lawn Tennis CLub - Another Barby! We played here last year, more people this year and the weather was great! Some great dancers at the Tennis club. We look forward to doing it again. 28th May 2010 Great start to the year - And it was in Southend! unusual for us to play at home! Our client (Barclays Bank) looked after us well, we played in the street and the sun certainly came out. We were joined on stage by old oppo Dave Melling on keyboards. We'll put up some photos shortly. Looking forward now to Hook in Hampshire on the 12th June (England v USA!) I think we're on after the match. Fisher theatre Good evening! Bit of a dodgy night in terms of numbers, we were competing with the final of the X Factor, which didn't help, had a good time though! Great gig at the Fisher theatre for the private joint birthday party for Roger and Pauline! Nice buffet and everyone was up and dancing, and well done to Roger who took the lead on Fun Fun Fun. We finished all our music and ended up doing a few Beatles numbers! We're back at the Ficher Theatre on December 13th in a public performance, so looking forward to that again! We were really pleased to be invited by Mark Punter on BBC Essex to the first of his lunch time shows called "The Gravy Train" We had a run through of a few songs in the BBC Reception and even did an impromptu rendition of Kokomo for Eric Hall as he passed through. We spent a full hour with Mark and also produced 2 jingles that can now be heard every sunday on the "Gravy Train" BBC Essex 103.5fm from 11am - 2.00pm. (You can hear one of the jingles by clicking on the icon at the top of the page). 12th September - Good night at Seawick Holiday Park - Signed autographs and posed for some photos afterwards - first time we've played there but we had a good time, nice to play locally hopefully 'do it again' some time 29th August - Good night at The River Rooms in Stourbridge - look forward to doing it again next year 21/08/09 - Plastic Red - Sidcup - Great evening again - looked after well again fby the guys and gals at Plastic Red, nice meal before we went on at 10.30 - Just did an hour's set so was away by about midnight - 22/08/09 - Buddies Bar - Canvey Island - Terrific Charity Concert Unfortunately the schedule was abit awry and we never got on til 12.20! those that were left had a great time, we did a few encores but it was an extremely late one 09/08/09 - Ocado (Waitrose) in Hatfield - Great Day - Swealtering heat and too many wasps, however we played on a great stage one of those on the back of a truck, we were well looked after and everyone had a great time - free drinks and food - and when we did pay for drinks the Peroni was 50p a bottle!!! fantastic!! - should be getting some good photographs from this gig and will post as soon as we have them. I apologise about the Tesco joke!
Tony joining the Hoff appreciation society Now looking forward to the Plastic Red on the 21st. 25/07/09 - GER Club March Cambridgeshire - Good evening - unfortunately the club has a decibel counter and although we're not an extremely loud band we made it cut out on California Girls which was our first number! Spent the rest of the evening watching the meter and managed to make it cut out on two more occasions (thanks to Luke's falsetto!) However we finished and did the usual encores, left the stage, we were then asked to come on to do one more number, which we did. Aaah I forgot, some of the band (the more athletic and toned members) took part in a limbo competition during the break, Dave, a friend of Dan our dep drummer won the competition! Can't be bad . . 18/07/09 - Westcliff Hardcourt Lawn Tennis Club had a great time, plenty of dancing, food and drink, was joined on stage by Alan 'what a racquet Perrin', he also entertained during our break singing and playing acoustic. This gig was a big thank you from the band to the club for allowing us to rehearse on their site most weeks. Alan and Keith (left) . . . . and Mark, Alan and Alan (right)
06/07/09 What a weekend! - Friday night kicked off with our yearly bash at the Mill Theatre Rayleigh, plenty of friends and family there and all went well, loads of dancing and audience participating. The following night Saturday the 4th July was fantastic, there were 9 other acts including a 7 piece Motown Band, Elvis and Michael Jakson was there, Britney too . . . we headlined the show and came on at 10.15pm, played to a heaving crowd of over 2000 for 40 minutes and the culmination of Good Vibrations ended up with an amazing ariel firework display. Next weekend no gigs but we are playing the following weekend at Westclff Hardcourt Lawn Tennis Club . . . 29/06/09 Had a great weekend - Started off on Friday at Cranleigh Social Club where we had a great time, non-stop dancing! we then retired to The Cranleigh Hotel, they'd stopped serving food so we sang for our supper, and a couple of beers! some of us retired at 6.00am, then drove onto Wildernesse Golf club near Sevenoaks, lots of waiting around but we were well looked after by the club and Nicky, we were joined by Mark Hutchins on Sax and Flute as Tony T couldn't make it. Once again, loads of dancing, Paul did the disco till about 1.00am, after packing up finally got home at 4.00am . . . zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Looking towards another busy weekend this week at the Mill Hotel in Rayleigh and then on Saturday at the Benenden Charity Gig - also playing live on BBC Essex at 2.00 on Wednesday 1st July! Steve Scruton Show . . . 15/06/09 Good evening at the Quay Theatre Sudbury - Unfortunately short on numbers however those that were there had a good time. Apart from Paul's bass pedal malfunctioning at the start of California Dreaming, so the first half of the song was without drums, they then started when the pedal was fixed - bit different but sounded pretty good I think. 01/06/09 Great time at Felixstowe Holiday Park - We were warmly welcomed Loopy the Rabbit was very enjoyable! Sorry for problem with PA in first set, hopefully second set made up for it! 18/05/09 Great night at Halstead Empire again - We were warmly welcomed and I think we had the best singing audience we have ever had! We premiered a couple of new songs we haven't done before, 'kiss me baby' 'dance dance dance'. All went very well, thanks to Martin and all the gang at the Empire and we'll be back again next year! 24/04/09 Heard today that Summerdayze 2009 has now been cancelled - which is a real shame, we were really looking forward to that - the current fiscal situation has been blamed, lots of bands out there now looking for a gig on the 30th August! 15/04/09 Another gig announced - We are playing at the River Rooms in Stourbridge in West Midlands on 29th August. It's the first time we've played there and are very much looking forward to it. 21/03/09 Great evening at the Plastic Red in Sidcup yesterday - We were well looked after (food and drinks supplied) by them and thanks for that, much appreciated! We kicked off at 10.15, all had a great dance and we left at about 12.00 with everyone dancing to the disco - They have asked us to come back again and we've booked it for the 21st August - so another one for the diary! 16/03/09 Looking forward to the Plastic Red in Sidcup this Friday - We'll be kicking off at about 8.30, DJ etc.... It looks like the headline acts for Summer Dayze in August is going to be Rose Royce and Suzi Quatro, supported by Showaddywaddy! Loads of tribute acts too, Oasis, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Neil Diamond are just a few . . . 13/02/09 Happy Birthday to Roger and his wife in October - They've invited us to play for them on Oct 17th at the Fisher Theatre Bungay, better learn thse songs Roger if you want to get up on stage! 05/02/09 Heard some details about the gig we're doing on August Bank Holiday - It's a 3 day event called 'Summerdayze' and it sounds like it's going to be great! The headline acts are yet to be announced. We're doing a set of about 1 hr and 20 mins. There are a few other tributes as well as the headliners. We're also playing at Colchester United FC on the 11th July for the Charity 'Headway' we previously performed for them back in 2006. It's a great charity and tickets are going to be approx £25 inc. food, it's a themed sixties evening and we're going for late sixties so get out your old afghan and put some flowers in your hair . . . "peace and love to all" tickets not on sale yet but will be shortly. Also we're looking forward to being at the Empire in Halstead where we always get a warm welcome! Tickets can be bought online http://www.empire-theatre.co.uk May 17th, hopefully we'll fill it up! 27/01/09 A terriffic evening was had by all at Stamford Bridge, everyone danced the night away and well done to Neil the 'Roadie' for his rendition of Mustang Sally! Thanks to Laurel at Suzo and for their generosilty and hopefully we can work together again in the future. PS Tony Sax!, sorry for not telling you that we'd changed the key of Little Honda! As things are at the moment we now have a bit of a break from gigs until the Plastic Red in Sidcup in March, but we're learning lots of new material and we'll come back fully refreshed and raring to go! 29/12/08 A few of us played some 'live' Beach Boys music on BBC Essex. We were on the Mark Punter Show, all went well, we had a great time and a good chat with Mark, and we'll send some tickets for ther Empire gig on 17th May Mark ok!
22/12/08 Great Concert at the Mill Events Centre Rayleigh in Essex. We had a warm reception and eventually ran out of time and had to finish! Although the crowd was still calling out for more. Pleased to say the Mill has asked us back for next year and we'll be returning on 3rd July Titled (The Almost independence day concert!) 15/12/08 Looking forward to Playing at the Mill in Rayleigh - Hoping for a sellout - watch this space to see if it happens! October 24th, at Bungay, a teriffic night, We all enjoyed ourselves with the almost capacity audience at the Fisher Theatre, thanks to Chris and everyone at the theatre for making us so welcome and of course the wonderful audience, we're starting to really feel at home there now and we've already booked up for next year, it's going to be a christmas gig and it's on December 12th, so we're looking forward to anotrher great evening there. We played the Plough Inn I Walthamstow - 'nuff said - Actually it went very well, we had a good time and hopefully those that turned up did too lol. 13/07/08 A teriffic gig at Kingham, Oxfordshire, the weather was fantastic and the organisers had even brought in a beach in front of the stage! The night before we played at Drummer Paul's Birthday Party Bash in Hockley, slept in the tour bus and went to to Oxfordshire the next day. It was slightly surreal in respect that we were finishing the set and the vicar came onto the stage and asked us to stop, I thought perhaps we were too loud, however he made an announcement asking if anyone had the keys to the village hall as it was on fire! 2 fire engines turned up and we completet our last number! Hopefully not too much damage done! Well the weather was amazing for the Kirby Le Soken gig, a terrific crowd turned up and we sang and danced into the summer evening! Thanks to Dan for subbing for us on the drums! and thanks to David Payne for organising the whole event and waiting a whole year for the weather to improve!
Had some problems with the tour bus but thanks to Barry Ives Haulage of Sible Hedingham, we are back on the road! It's now the 20th June and we're looking forwad to playing the outdoor gig at Kirby Le Soken - this was cancelled from last year as last year it really was Le SOAKEN!! Check our gig page for details. Looks like it's going to be warm . . . The beginning of June saw us playing at the Quay theatre in Sudbury, the gig went well and we had a rip roaring time, hopefully we can return next year. From there we played at the Graig Park Hotel and Country Club in North Wales, for a joint 40th Birthday, apart from the bus aquiring a water leak and our NEW PA expiring we didn't let a little thing like that spoil our evening! the show went on!
Al taking the PA apart on the Tour Bus! The following evening took us to Perth in Scotland, where we performed at a wonderful wedding, the weather was FANTASTIC, and thanks to David and Elise for their warm welcome and generosity. We were joined by a Kailey band and the crowd really never had a chance to sit down!
The Set-Up A really great night was had at St James' Church in Greenstead Green, the congregation was dancing as was the vicar! and everyone had a teriffic time, thanks to all who organised it and hopefully, plenty of money was raised and we can do it again next year! The British Beach Boys Due to number of reasons the band has decided to rename itself, as there was sometimes a certain amount of marketing confusion, we decided upon the British Beach Boys, due to the fact we are mainly British and tend to play Beach Boys music . . . Quiet start to the year - 2008 We're in the rehearsal studio learning some new material, its always easy to just keep on doing the same stuff and always a challenge learning something new. We have been asked to learn Lady Lynda for a wedding in June so we're working on that . We also have a couple of new band members Keith on Keyboards and Mick on Bass to get up to speed so it means going over all the usual stuff too!. September / October 2007 A few busy weekends in September and October saw us at the Market Theatre in Ledbury where we used the tour bus for the first time, it went great! the people of Ledbury were great too and we really enjoyed the gig- even tough the stage was about the same size as the auditorium! From Lebury we then travelled to Monmouth, a great town and a beautiful theatre called the Savoy - we were helped out on stage at Ledbury and Monmouth by Tony Ardin ex of Bad Manners - and it seems like he may well now be a permanent fixture with the band!
The following weekend - 5th and 6th saw us at the Oake Golf club in Taunton (we nearly never made it due to band members being held up on the A12! It was a great evening though and people danced from the start to the finish. Stayed over in a Travel lodge and then made our way to Port Isaac where we were performing at a wedding, It went very well - we played in what can only be called a sort of surf shack cellar - once the candles were lit on the tables and the bands lights were on it looked great even if Keith the keyboards was hidden away round the corner due to lack of space! Cograts btw to Naomi and Dave! We spent the night at the Cornish Arms Hotel - fantastic Beer and great BREAKFAST! where we were really looked after by the landlady Felicity!
